Simple checks at home

These kitchen checks are only a rough guide and cannot prove purity. Wood-pressed oil can look a little cloudy and settle at the bottom — that is natural. A food lab test is the only reliable way to check oil.

  1. The texture test
    Test 01

    The texture test

Rub a few drops between your thumb and finger for a few seconds.

Pure sign It feels smooth and evenly oily, with no grainy or waxy bits.

  2. The aroma test
    Test 02

    The aroma test

Warm a spoonful very slightly and take in the smell.

Pure sign The natural smell of the seed it was pressed from, with nothing stale or chemical.

  3. The paper test
    Test 03

    The paper test

Put a drop of oil on plain white paper and leave it for a few minutes.

Pure sign It spreads into an even, clear spot with no coloured ring at the edge.

Questions about this product

Why does it look cloudy or have sediment?

Unrefined oils are filtered but not chemically cleaned, so fine particles can settle at the bottom. This is normal.

Can I use it for deep frying?

You can, but the flavour is strong. Many families keep it for tadka, sabzi and pickles and use a milder oil for deep frying.

How should I store it?

Keep the cap tight and the bottle away from heat and sunlight. Use it by the best-before date on the label.

Is the smell stronger than regular oil?

Yes. Wood-pressed oils keep more of the seed’s natural smell and taste than refined oils.

Can I return it?

Opened food products cannot be returned. If your order arrives damaged or wrong, contact us with a photo and your order number.
